Safety Policy

The management of J & E Supply & Fastener Co., Inc holds that the safety and health of its employees is a matter of high priority in its daily operations.

All employees are ultimately responsible for their own personal safety.  Furthermore, the following levels of employees are charged with these additional responsibilities.

EMPLOYEES . . .

It is the responsibility of each employee to protect himself as well as his fellow workers from injury.  Planning one’s work according to established safe practices and procedures must be the number one rule.

Under no circumstances shall an employee be assigned tasks without sufficient training to accomplish it safely and efficiently.  The necessary training must be organized by the immediate supervisor.

Employees shall observe all warning signs, particularly those pertaining to the use of personal protective equipment.  They should also use common sense and good judgement in the use of this equipment in non-posted areas.

The employee shall report safety hazards to his immediate supervisor as soon as practical.

SUPERVISORS . . .

The supervisor is responsible for helping provide a safe workplace for his workers and for the safety program in his area.  Meetings, inspections, hazard corrections, and accident notification and investigation are all major responsibilities of the supervisor.

In addition, the supervisor must encourage employees to practice safe and approved methods in fulfilling their job responsibilities.  On-the-job training, coaching, and motivation are to be utilized frequently to achieve these objectives.

One-on-one contact between the supervisor and his workers should happen regularly to make sure all employees understand and agree that safety is paramount in their activities.  Safety is an integral part of our daily efforts.

COMPANY VEHICLES . . .

Any employee who drives a company unit or rental car shall drive it in the safest manner possible.  The driver shall make sure that all occupants in the vehicle wear seat belts.  We expect all employees to drive to avoid accidents, practice responsible and defensive driving techniques, and above all, to pay attention to the act of driving itself.  Driving safely on company business is part of each employee’s job responsibility.

OFF-THE-JOB SAFETY . . .

All employees should exercise due care in their leisure activities to avoid injuries.  Time lost from work due to off-the-job injuries not only effects (affects) the employee and his family, but also his job.  The direct and indirect costs of unplanned absences from work can hamper a company’s overall success.  We need each and every employee to be on the job and productive.

GENERAL . . .

Unsafe actions by any employee which violate established safe practices, company safety policy and rules, will subject the individual to possible disciplinary action up to and including termination.
