Description:

Jam Nut is a low profile nut.  It is a six sided (hexagonal) fastener with internal threads that has been drilled and tapped.

Application:

Jam Nut is typically used when there is limited space but can also be used as a type of locking nut.  When one nut is butted up against another nut it will greatly reduce the likelihood that the nuts will back off due to vibration.
