			We use several tools to measure fasteners at J & E.  Right now we will cover the one tool that you will need to know first.
This is a green nut and bolt gauge. It has the ability to measure American internal threads, length, and thread patterns, as well as metric.

 
|  | You can use the holes to measure the diameter of male threads. | 
|  | You can use the ends to measure the diameter (internal threads ) of fasteners. If the fastener only covers half of the gauge then the fastener is coarse thread. If the fastener goes all the way down then it is assumed the fastener is fine thread. | 
|  | You can use the cut out to measure fasteners that are counter sunk. |
