All brass fittings that begin with AQ for their series number should include a push to connect end. They are intended to be used with plastic, nylon and soft metal tubing. There are two styles of push to connect fittings. The first has a standard body and the second has a body that allows a turning motion or swivel. The swivel motion is not limited to the push to connect fittings. The DOT fittings, which we have not discussed yet, will allow for a swivel option.
There are four general identifiers for these brass fittings, making them some of the easiest fittings to identify.

They will have a ring like piece with an o’ring seal. The end is very recognizable. Notice the image in this series and you can clearly see the push to connect ring.

The push to connect ring will have the diameter of the tube size stamped in the ring.

The body may swivel. Keep in mind that there is another series of fittings that allow for a swiveling body so this isn’t an absolute identifier.

Most manufactures pre-apply a Teflon based pipe sealant on all male pipe threads. The color of the sealant does not mean anything.
